 Dear Russ,

I have been meaning to write [to thank you so very much] for a long time now. It has been rather hectic, teaching at the Medical School, etc., etc., and so I have been derelict but I now have some free time and I can not think of any thing more important to do than getting this brief note off to you.

We first met when I was having a “major problem” [naturally] with the computer and decided to take the advice of my very close friend, Sandy, and call you for help. I had had experience with several other “computer experts” and the results had been disappointing. You responded promptly to my “cry for help” and arrived the same afternoon. You solved the problem, in no time and got everything working, better than ever! The results have been the same every time. I particularly remember how smoothly all went with the installation of my new computer, the transfer of data, etc.

As important though as your expertise is, for me even more impressive is your ability to explain what you are doing; your enthusiasm; your relaxed attitude; your ability and cooperation in helping over the phone; your reliability about returning phone calls and/or E-mail messages. You have a rare combination of ability and personality and so it makes “my life with a computer” a much less harrowing existence. I do thank you,

Many thanks for your help in solving my computer problems. As you know, I am the perpetual novice and each new item becomes an "experience".
